How to gather bridal details and prepare for photography
Make sure to budget time in your wedding day photography schedule to have us style and photograph your bridal details.
You put all the time into gathering and shopping for these items, so why not have them properly styled? This usually happens while the bride is getting her makeup finished, and right before she gets into her dress.
It adds a lot of sentimental texture to your wedding album, and breaks up the photos of people.
Pro tip: have someone in the bridal suite be in charge of knowing where the bridal details are, and that they are kept together in a box, bag, or laid out together near the dress. It helps free the bride up from this responsibility. Bonus points for keeping a clean area near a window ready for styling!
Bridal details refer to the small but significant elements that contribute to the overall aesthetic and story of a bride's wedding day. These typically include:
Wedding dress and attire: Close-up shots of the wedding gown, including intricate lace, beadwork, or embroidery details. Also, shots of the veil, shoes, jewelry (such as earrings, necklace, bracelet), and any hair accessories.
Florals: Have the florist deliver the bouquets and bouttonnieres to the room where photos will start taking place as the Couple gets dressed. It doesn’t hurt to ask the florist if they can also pin the jackets with boutonnieres before they leave!
Finishing touches of hair and makeup: We will place you next to the window to capture the final moments in good light.
Sentimental details: Shots of any personal items, such as heirlooms, custom embroidery on the jackets, gifts from the groom or family, or something borrowed and blue.
Stationery: Styled wedding invitations, programs, or any other paper goods that have been specially designed for the event.
Rings: Close-ups of the wedding rings with boxes, both individually and together as a set. We style these with whatever you provide, and also bring our own ring boxes in case you don’t have any.
Capturing these details adds depth and personalization to the wedding album, preserving memories of not just the bride's appearance but also the thought and effort put into every aspect of her special day.
You have a lot of planning to do, so follow these simple tips:
Set aside a box or bag that you can add to leading up to the wedding to put your shoes, jewelry, ring boxes and everything else that you purchase.
Put someone in charge of setting your dress and bridal bag somewhere obvious in the bridal suite, like on the bed. Tell your photographer who that designated person is.
Add trimmings from your dress alteration and leftover materials from any DIY projects in the box.
